Application Tips
Explore our helpful tips on ensuring a successful application to Raha.
Apply early:
Raha International School opens applications 12 months before the start of each academic year, and each year requires a new application. Set a reminder for 1 September to be one of the first to apply. If you’re applying from abroad, go ahead and apply even if your plans are not final. It’s free and easy, and it gets your name on the waiting list early rather than too late.
Check the grade:
Ensure you apply for the correct grade. This can be tricky with different curriculums or academic calendars. Start with our grade equivalency chart. If you’re still unsure, our admissions team is here to help.

Involve your child:
Let your child help choose their new school. They will transition easier if they feel involved. Consider bringing them along for a school tour to address any questions or concerns they might have. They often wonder about the food in the canteen or whether they will make new friends. We enjoy interacting with our students and easing their concerns about starting at a new school.
Do your research:
Be proactive in understanding your child’s education. Many parents might not be familiar with the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. You can learn more about it on our website. Our Admissions team is also ready to assist with the latest research to help you decide on the right curriculum. We’re here to answer any questions you might have, and if we don’t know the answer, we’ll find someone who does.
Check documents:
You don’t need documents to apply, but you will need some later on to register officially with the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) once accepted. To avoid any delays or surprises, it’s best to review the complete list of required documents early so you can be prepared.
Documentation
In compliance with the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) regulations, it is essential to submit the specified documents to finalise registration within the ADEK system.
Not providing the necessary documents could lead to the cancellation of enrolment.
- New Student Document Checklist
- New Student Transfer Certificate & Attestation Requirements
- Current/Leaving/Former students

Parents will be contacted and informed of the decision and grade placement by the Registrar.
Upon receiving the letter of acceptance, parents are requested to pay, within ten working days, 5% of the annual school fees, to secure the place. Full term fees are due one month prior to the academic year starting. Students are not enrolled until full term fees are paid. The 5% registration fee is non-refundable but forms part of the annual tuition fees and is adjusted against the first term. To complete your child’s registration, you are required to pay the balance of the first term fees at least one month before the beginning of the school year.
If during the entrance assessment, we discover a requirement for English language support or special educational support, please be advised that there may be an additional fee charged for this service. Parents will be notified of this charge prior to or within 4 weeks of the start of the academic year.
The school requires a 5% non-refundable deposit of the school’s tuition fees as a re-registration deposit to confirm the return of existing students in the new academic year. This deposit will be deducted from the total tuition fees for the academic year in which the admission is being sought. The school will advise of the amount and due date. Re-registration for continuing students will not be accepted unless all outstanding fees due have been paid in full.
Kindly note that those wishing to transfer to other Taaleem schools will also be required to fill the re-registration form and submit a copy to both schools with the non-refundable deposit paid at the new school.
- School Reports: according to Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge regulations, the school reserves the right to withhold any reports until fees have been paid in full.
- Final Results: according to Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge regulations, the school reserves the right to withhold the final results and abstain from issuing transfer certificates until settlement of all school fees is made.
For both existing and new students, deposits and fees will not be refunded if students choose not to return to school for the next academic year or choose not to take the offered places. However, a school may choose to refund the deposit under special circumstances.
In the case of refund and recovery, the school fees will be calculated as follows as per the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge bylaws:
- If a student attends any part of week one of the term or fails to show up at all without the Parent/Guardian notifying the school in writing sufficiently in advance before the beginning of a term. In such a case, the school may retain the value of the registration or re-registration fees.
- If a student attends from one week and up to three weeks in a term, the school may retain the value of one full month of tuition fees.
- If a student attends over three weeks and up to six week in a term, the school may retain the value of two full months of tuition fees.
- If a student attends over six weeks in a term, the school may retain the full-term fee.
*The value of the fee per month is calculated by dividing the total tuition fees by ten.
Term 1 Fees: a student may not start the academic year unless the first term fee has been paid in full. Payments will be only accepted via cash, credit card or cheque payable in favour of Raha International School. We cannot accept personal cheques for term 1 fees, unless submitted at least five working days prior to the start of the new academic year.
